Pangkor Island Beach Resort

Decided to go to Pangkor Island Beach Resort (PIBR) after a good recommendation from a friend.

From Kuala Lumpur took North South Expressway (E 1) and exit at Gopeng (exit 135). Choose this way as less travel in small town compared to exit at Teluk Intan. By this route will reach Lumut about 90km distance compared to Teluk Intan exit (130km) from the toll booth. Downside actually more kilometers and toll charges if you are from Kuala Lumpur. This route offer dual lanes each way and you will pass through Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Seri Iskandar Campus and Kellie's Castle.

Check in at 2pm, reached Lumut at 12.30pm. Sent bags at PIBR's small office in Lumut and filling up at KFC Lumut. Parked car at the multi-storey car park court and will cost you about RM10 per day or 60cents per hour. Bought ticket to small jetty specifically for PIBR's and Teluk Dalam Resort's guests. Each person cost RM 19.

Packed ferry as this is on saturday.

Welcome signboard as you reach the PIBR's Jetty.

P/S:
*Accept all international credit card.

*Recreation staffs very rude and not helpful.

*Came on bad weekend. Water very murky and unable to go for snorkeling. Snorkeling session will cost Rm85 per person (adult). It will take 3 hours time. However, you will be taken to the town (around 15 mins ride) left at the town (45 mins) then taken to the snorkeling area. Actual snorkeling will be around 1 hour time only.

*Tried the kayak, very high tide and dangerous for kayak activity.

*Ordered cake to be deliver to room supposed to be at 10pM (2200 hours) but delivered at 2pM. How silly mistake.

*Rented motorcycle from the hotel sub contractor (in the hotel compound). Cost about Rm 20 per hour or Rm 60 for the whole day.

Bukit Merah Laketown Resort - Perak

This a part of weekend gateway to Taiping, Perak.

We checked in on 24th July (Saturday) at Laketown Hotel, Bukit Merah for one night.

The Hotel
Since this trip was unplanned trip, we did not reserve the room earlier. Only make a call on 10aM in the morning, the rates was Rm250 (weekend) for bed and breakfast. If booked through internet (24 hours earlier at least) the rate would be from Rm110 - Rm150 depending number of rooms available. However this rate without any breakfast (Rm26++) per person.

The Room
Check in at the hotel about 2pM. Our room was on Level 3. A clean sheet queen bed together with a day bed with pullout available. Able to accommodate a parent with two children in comfort mode.

Just the bathroom a bit dirty with moles & stains on the floor.

Well its a resort (bukit merah inn to be exact). Not a luxury hotel.

No newspaper will be sent to your room. Need to purchase at the souvenir shop a walking distance from the hotel. Same goes to the breakfast cafe.

The Dining
Breakfast was just okay. Nothing fancy. Mostly prepared by trainee chef (can see from their badge). Nasi lemak, bakeries, fresh orange juice, scramble eggs station (outside).

Chairlift
Next we tried the chairlift ride. It cost Rm7.oo per person (adult). The twin-seater cable chair ride to enjoy a 'Spectacular' view as it takes you over the Waterpark to see the scenic view of Bukit Merah Lake. You will be take to overview across the waterpark. The stomach was still full after breakfast.

SkyCycle
So next we tried the skycycle that cost Rm6.00 per person (adult). You need to cycle the ride with you two hands. Across the short route will cover tropical jungle (they claim!) and the lake side. Not worth your money.

Water Park
Only later we enter the water theme park. Since this not peak season (not school or public holiday) not so many people around. You need not to line up for any ride / slides.

Opening Hours:
Mon - Fri: 12pM - 7pM
Sat - Sun also school & public holiday : 10aM - 7pM

Entrance Fee:
Rm 27.00 (adult)
Rm 23.00 (child)
Rm 10.00 (senior & disabled person)

P/S:
*Do not forget your sunscreen! :-)

*Plan and book earlier your accommodation!

*Avoid Apartment. Look very old, dirty and not properly maintain.

*Kampung Air (Water Chalet) mostly reserve for group booking by tourist from Middle East or Japan / Korea. Try your lucky to get that!

*Accept Mastercard & Visa only.

Ancient Egypt

Ancient pyramids and obelisks stand fast against the sands of time as you are transported to 1930’s Egypt, the Golden Age of Egyptian Exploration. Travel to an era when entire Pharaohs tombs were discovered- and their terrible curses unleashed.

We skipped the ride, as the hangover from the Enchanted Airways was still bad.

Dining: Just so-so. Nothing stand out to be share. But must try Garrett PoPCorn! Caramel Crisp flavor is the best! Outlet is accessible without entry pass to the park!
P/S:
A nice place to go with your family. Express pass strongly encourage as you could be in line for more that two hours just to experience one particular place.
Its a safe bet to purchase your ticket online earlier. The ticket was sold out 4 days before the date. However, hotel conceirge might be able to help you. Possible to obtain s$10 discount OR a free bus ride from your hotel to Sentosa Island. (subject to certain schedule).
