Medan Ikan Bakar Jeram - Pantai Jeram

Name: Medan Ikan Bakar Jeram

Location:
Pantai Jeram

My first visit to Medan Ikan Bakar Jeram was way back in 2005. Since then I have been coming for few times for the fresh seafood menu. Fresh seafood! Yes, that I said. If you are thinking how to get to Kapar from Kuala Lumpur? Easiest way is to take NKVE and exit at Setia Alam.
*You will pass by Setia Eco Park and arrive at Meru town.
*Look for signboard toward Kapar.
*At Kapar town, you will pass by the famous Nasi Lemak Kapar (NLK).
*Once there, you are on the right track (Jalan Kuala Selangor) and about 13km from Kapar Town you will stop at the very first traffic light. On you left will be a mosque.
*Take the left exit at traffic light.
*Go straight for 2km you will arrive at this restaurant.

There is another restaurant nearby which is Aroma Ikan Bakar. I gave a visit to Aroma Ikan Bakar in 2009, the service sucks and a bit expensive compared to this restaurant. Just Aroma Ikan Bakar a bit closer to the beach and offer a better view of sunset.

What I do Like:
Of course the fresh seafood! I love the steam fish though it might take up to 40 minutes during low peak time and might be longer on peak time. Deep fried calamari my most favourite!

What I do not Like:
Beverages was poorly prepared and it always do. Please avoid peak hours as it might takes forever for your food to be ready.

Its been awhile since I wanted to try this restaurant, but only today I have the opportunity. Located at The Gardens, Alexis Bistro and Wine Bars offer local and western menu. Alexis also famous with cakes. The cakes was really delicious!

Nasi lemak was interesting too. Heavily cream nasi lemak. Sweet and spicy cuttlefish. Just the beef rendang a bit of spongy. Interestingly serves with crunchy water spinach.

What I do Like:
The spaghetti seafood serves with the fresh ingredients. Taste was really delicious! This belong to must try category! Not to forget the Black & White Chocolate Cake.

What I don't Like:

Should mention in the menu the steak sauce contain alcohol. For tiramisu cake it does mention that contain cognac.

Restoran MONrods Kitchen - Jalan Mahkota, Kuantan

*Seksyen 7, Bangi

Opening Hours:

Saturday extended till 1aM

I bring you this review ahead of Mingguan Malaysia. Believe that recently open it doors to customer since the paint odour still strong and annoying.

Personally I never heard of this franchise name before until a friend of mine suggested me to visit this restaurant when I am in Kuantan. The named inspired by the owners' name which are Mon (Rosli Rashid) and Rods (Roslan Zainol Abidin). This is the 5th restaurant by this franchise since its first restaurant at Bayan Lepas, Penang in 1965. Food theme and decoration mimic fine dining with lower price. This might be the official coffee house for Espikay Hotel on the upper level.

Although not really a fine dining, but just not bad as you could imagine. You might easily confuse with Secret Recipe restaurant as the colour theme used for decoration just about the same which are white, black and red.

Speciality in MONrods is the unique chicken rice. Will try it later at Shah Alam branch. I was told that Karaoke  Set also available for free. But I do not see any physically at the restaurant. (Do correct me please!)

Food serves are western and local menu. Price wise just as moderate as other cafe. Taste wise chicken taste not so fresh and the lamb chop most of the part just pure fat.

What I don't Like:

Since its still new, no credit card or MEPS facility available. Food serving time take so long. I do understand food serving might be delay since its peak hours, but 40 minutes might not be tolerate for me. The serves also in small portion.

Lets see the restaurant!

Its been a long time Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has dominated the fried chicken fast food industry. Now its the time for KFC to seriously take Popeyes as competitor. Thought several other competitors make no harm to KFC before, the recent declining quality and taste by KFC should be handle wisely.

Began in 1972 known as Chicken on the Run, later renamed as Popeyes and start expanding their business in Louisiana, USA. Personally Popeyes stands as a good alternative for consumers other than KFC (as Malaysian been natured). Offer options "mild" and "spicy" flavours for chickens you to choose.

From my point of view spicy version just about similar with KFC spicy version with a better taste. While for mild flavour just a less spicy version than the spicy flavours with added a slight taste of herbs. What made me like Popeyes, its obvious that Popeyes' chicken does processed a better way than KFC. No "unwanted" organs leftover behind the ribs of the chicken as I usually encounter at KFC.

Interesting is Popeyes fried chicken comes with so called "biscuits". Its not my favourite I could say but it might interest some of you other there. So what are you waiting for? Just give it a try! You might falls for it!

But my tongue will still crave for KFC original flavour. heehehe..
